Claus Due · Horsens, Denmark

I build useful things for the web.

I design, build and operate software systems: from infrastructure and data flows to the interfaces people use. Tools change; sound architecture and thoughtful design endure.

Turning very complex data structures into useful and friendly software with 25+ years of experience.

Claus Due

Architecture that holds together, from infrastructure to interface.

I’ve spent almost three decades designing, building and operating software systems. My work spans application code, infrastructure, data flows and interfaces; the technology is chosen to fit the problem, never the other way around.

I’m at home in complicated codebases, but I care most about making the whole system simpler: clear boundaries, durable architecture, maintainable code and products that respect the person using them.

How I work

Honest about tradeoffs, transparent in decisions, pragmatic about solutions, consistent in execution and efficient with effort.

  • Honesty. Say what is known, what is uncertain and what is likely to fail.
  • Transparency. Make reasoning, tradeoffs and consequences visible.
  • Pragmatism. Choose what fits the problem, not what happens to be fashionable.
  • Consistency. Build predictable systems and follow through with the same care.
  • Efficiency. Remove needless complexity and spend effort where it changes the outcome.
